In Scripture, praise to God is often expressed using stringed instruments such as the psaltery, lyre, or harp. Each string has its own sound, but together they create one melody.
Charity is the second string of our instrument — the one that urges us to love even when pride and self-importance push us to assert ourselves, our viewpoints, and our resentments.
