Catechesis for the month of March 2026
In Scripture, praise to God is often expressed using stringed instruments such as the psaltery, lyre, or harp. Each string has its own sound, but together they create one melody.
The sixth string is not stopping in front of the wall of our own suffering; it is going beyond, seeing the suffering of others. Just as the strings of an instrument, when played together, create a melody, so the sharing of suffering can lead us to contemplate the sufferings of Jesus together; helping one another with the awareness that Calvary is the penultimate stage of life, for beyond that mountain there is always Tabor, the Transfiguration, joy.
